Great Product! This product is high quality. The antler is firm yet flexible. It's a great way to train for shed hunting! The antler, scent, and booklet are all great and helped me tremendously with shed hunting.

Great Product, Wears out FastThis product has been great for starting to train our basset puppy. Unfortunately, the rubber is very soft and even just in fetching or finding, it gets torn up very fast. Absolutely can't let a dog chew on it.

Great kitStarted with a ball thrower and pocket full of tennis balls, worked great to get the pup familiar with the scent–she already loves tennis balls. The balls absorb the scent and hold it for a long time.
The antler is great, people saying it's too soft or torn apart easily are probably treating it as a toy or allowing their dogs to chew on it. My pup will sniff it out, grab it and bring it to me. I let her drop it and pick it back up and even walk around with it as a reward, but I won't let her chew on it.
The scent is great for tennis balls, but you need a wax scent for any antler as the liquid will rolls right off.
Hopefully I can update this review with shed pics.
The scent is great for tennis balls, but a wax would be far better for the antler or real antler.

wanting to train my golden retriever to find shedsI had read many post about teaching a dog to find sheds. After all the research i done i stumbled on to this. the horns are a durable rubber material. So even if your not technically training you actually are. Use this to play fetch with the pup all the time. Then when you want to get a little more technical they send a wax to put on the shed that imamates the shed of a deer. Then you can start hiding it and letting them find it as well.

Awesome product!I really like the way this dummy feels, and my dog loves it! We are only on step 1 of the training process but the booklet is very easy to follow and seems like a smooth and seamless way to train. Really enjoy it all around, as a dog trainer, I give it a thumbs up for being effective and simple.

Feel it wouldn't be able to withstand much useDespite the fact that my rescue dogs (a 5yo male: 50% G.shepherd, 40% Husky, and 10% Malamute. And an 11mo. female: 30% Aussi.Cattle Dog, Chow, Lab, G.Retriever, Boxer mix) show great interest in antler cutoffs, and fetching tennis balls, I did not feel confident in this training antler's ability to hold up. While we have a large deer laden piece of property, I never gave my dogs the opportunity to train with this "DogBone Shed Dog Training Antler Retrieving System." My dogs have shown that they are rough on several types of toys. Including toys that advertised they are 'chew proof' – but weren't. So when I got this training antler in the mail, I was disappointed in the flimsy quality throughout the grain and length. Although I do understand it's soft for safe training, I could see them quickly chewing it up (especially with the scent on it) before they returned it to my hand. I didn't want them to leave pieces of it on the ground or in the woods. I have no doubt they (or wild critters) would find the small pieces I couldn't find, and chew on them and possibly swallow the pieces when not being watched. Perhaps I'm being an alarmist, but in my opinion this training toy just wasn't robust enough to do the job. Even in the thick areas, I don't feel it would be able to withstand much use. So I wasn't able to utilize it. I returned it in the condition it arrived.

Makes training a shed hunting dog so much easierThis is an excellent kit to get your dog started in shed hunting. The rubberized antler is very helpful to get a dog started in picking up an antler shaped object, but it is soft without the possibility of them getting poked and scaring them. The included bottle of scent is also very helpful for conditioning the dog to deer antler scent and can be used on anything including tennis balls and other toys. I hide this antler all throughout my house for my German Shorthaired to find. It has been great for improving his scent tracking abilities as well as enrichment to tire him out, plus my kids love getting involved hiding the antler and working with my dog on his obedience. At some point you will need a real shed antler, but this kit is a great start. I highly recommend watching the Dogbone hunter on his youtube channel as he explains how to use the kit and has an insane amount of knowledge to help you create a shed hunting machine.

Supervision NeededMy dog loves this. The neighbor dog stole it and unfortunately chewed it up to the point of breaking it and ingested parts of it. I would highly suggest to keep an eye on your dog while they are using it so they don't Ingest something that they shouldn't.

Excellent-Update 6/2025Been training my chocolate heeler for about 2 weeks now with this system and it’s been amazing. My pup is 5 months old and caught on quick. Good weight on it and realistic shape. The scent that comes with it a little goes a long ways. I’ve already got him transitioned to antlers. Would recommend to anyone. Follow the steps have some patience and you’ll find success.
***update***
This dog has become a beast shed hunter. His best to date. We put in 3-5 miles a night (I live in northern Montana and a mountain for a backyard lol). This training set made him addicted and it’s his favorite thing to do now. Hands down the best purchase I’ve made. I tried to get him on birds but he ate the head off the duck training decoy lol…. So shed it is for him!
***Update*** pup just turned 6 months. He has become a beast. He can smell sheds from a ways away. He’s become a beast. The decoy has now become his favorite toy. He’s addicted and I am beyond satisfied with this product. If I could give it a 10- that’s what I would do!!

Bad decision.Lasted exactly 2 seconds with my dog a 70lb Female Husky/Lab mix. Just buy or find a real antler for training. Would rate 0 stars if I could. Also it cut her mouth when she chewed through it because there is plastic in the middle.
