Best purchase for my dogI bought this to work with our rescue dog. What an amazing product! She has really caught on quickly. It comes with 6 scent bags and each one catches her attention in a different way. This has given her different mental and physical exercise and stimulation. I highly recommend it for working breeds. Our other dog is not a working breed, however he gets exercise and stimulation from following me around and watching the “games”. This is a great product and worth the price. The pouches are also very durable for the dog.

Game changerOur working cocker spaniel is obsessed with this game and will try to “find it” even if we’re not playing. It keeps her entertained for a VERY LONG TIME.. if she had the choice, she would play 247. Highly highly recommend!!!!

GSD Loves ItI have a 4 year old GSD who is still hyperactive, much to our exhaustion. He knows a "search" command and we do scent work around the house and backyard using treats at couple times a week. We also have a DIY scent oil kit we made. It works, but can be a "pain" to set up if lazy. Wanted to give this a try due to simplicity in a nice pre-made package. Within 30 minutes he was acclimated to the bag, understood the assignment, was consistently alerting on finding it, and is now taking a nap.

Fun game for sniffing dogsI have a beagle and she sniffs EVERYTHING. Thought this would be a fun game for her and it is! It does take her a long time to get locked on the scent, but we are new to this product. With practice and time she will be hunting these out everywhere. The smell isn’t too powerful to bother me, but she loves it. Would recommend as a fun game that also can be used to work on recall!

Hit or missCute package and idea. Too expensive for the value of kit. Our dog did not like the scent and was not interested to play.

These are great intro to nose workI would definitely recommend. My dog picked it up so quickly and absolutely loves looking for them.

A new exciting game for my high energy dogWhile she is not very good at it, she loves the scent game. We incorporate treats for her when she finds the satchel. The scent is strong, but not overpowering. I do let the bags dry out for a day before putting them back in the tin so the moisture doesn't ruin what is inside. Event after having them for a while the scent is still decently strong. I assume when they eventually wear out I can use essential oils to continue their use a lot longer.
She is wiped after a 15 minute "find it" game. She won't be a police sniffing dog academy graduate, but we have fun together playing.
There are instructions how to teach your dog to search for the bags. Start slow and build from there.

Easy to learn, fun to master! The media could not be loaded. This is a great scent training kit for beginners! I have been looking for an indoor game or outdoor challenge for my service dog who is always looking for a job to do when she’s off duty. My dog is already somewhat familiar with scent work, so it only took a few minutes of training inside before she was ready to find the bags throughout our one acre backyard. Took her about 10 minutes to find all 6! She sniffed her little heart out and then came inside panting like she just sprinted a mile.

Pretty goodI am a little bit confused because all of the sachets smell exactly the same. I sort of thought they would be different scents so the dog can get used to finding different things. Nevertheless, they do have a strong scent, not bad it just smells like herbs, and my dog has been able to find them. I had already taught him to find his toy, by hiding it in a room and then bringing him in and giving him a command to find it. And I had already taught him to sit when he knew where the toy was because sometimes I would put it in a drawer or in a closet. So we have had a little trouble transitioning because at first I wanted to give him his toy as a prize for finding the sachet but every time I told him to find it he would go for the toy in my hand lol. So I am improvising and leaving the toy in the other room. And he is getting it! But I really wanted a bunch of different scents so he could get used to being told to smell something and then going and finding it. But other than that, they work well.

Great game for my AussieWe got these as a training tool to tire out our Aussie puppy on rainy days. He figured it out right away, we didn’t have to teach or show him anything. I just walked up to him and let him sniff the sachet, hid it, then said find it. At first he walked around with nose in air, and then would come back to sniff my hand to get scent again. Now he just finds them immediately.
It’s really cute to watch him walk around scent tracking, and when he finds them he runs back to us with sachet, very pleased with himself, waiting for treats.
I also play with these outside now; I’ll put a bunch of flower pots upside down and trays around the yard. I put him in a stay while I walk around picking up every pot, so he can’t see where I hide it. He always finds it right away.
We started using these when he was about 5 months old, and I don’t know if it’s the game or just age (he’s 10 months), but his tracking is amazing now. He has a friend who lives 5 neighborhoods down from us, and if that dog has been out within an hr or so, my pup drags me down to their house. He can also find every bit of rabbit, deer, and goose poop in my neighborhood… which is lovely for me, lol.

Great customer service & a good productI reached out to the seller to ask about ingredients because my dog ate part of one of the packets. I thought I remembered the ingredients from the Amazon listing but wanted to be sure there wasn’t anything else in it. By the way, our dog getting into it like this was completely our issue. The package does say ‘not for ingestion’ and I have always taken them from him immediately but unfortunately the kit had been left on the counter and my dog snatched one when no one was watching.
I’d already taken my dog to the ER to induce vomiting to make sure there were no issues (corncob and anise seeds can get stuck in the intestines and cause issues). My dog is fine. The seller immediately got back to me and we had a good discussion about labeling on the packaging to assist dog owners if this happens to them.
As far as the product goes, it comes with an instructional booklet to train your dog to touch the scented pouch with their nose. When they do that you reward them. You start with it literally in front of their face, then gradually get farther away. We have a working breed dog that needs both physical and mental challenges everyday to keep him calm and happy. This is another good tool in our tool belt to use when I need to give him an activity in the house especially in the rainy winter. I’m happy with the product and I’ve learned to put it on a high shelf when not in use.

Fun way to bond with your dog!I have 3 Australian Shepherds. They are totally spoiled and finding gifts for holidays/birthdays is getting challenging. I came across this looking for Christmas gifts and I am glad I found it. I started out with one dog and followed the instructions exactly. It did not take him long to figure it out. He was so excited when he found the bags I hid for him. This gave us an indoor game to play that didn’t create chaos. It was a calm bonding experience. The bags are durable and I did hang them up to dry before repacking them!! Important to remember that. They have a pleasant smell and my dog didn’t seem interested in tearing them open. I did immediately retrieve the bag from him once he found it to discourage any chewing though. I am excited to train my other dogs. Great rainy day activity.

Wonderful way to tire your dogFantastic, they were easy to train my dog to who had it down within two days. They work well, smell strongly but pleasantly and I can watch him track a scent trail I leave around the house or garden. It comes with a booklet that shows you how to train a dog to scentwork, which I roughly followed and had excellent results. The bags are durable enough and have handled a rough paw or two by my 40kg pup.
They were expensive but I honestly think they've been worth the money. This has become a fun way for to spend some brainpower on rainy days.

FUN Agility Toy & Scent Training Kit for dogsThe media could not be loaded. YES !!!
This dog scent tracing kit includes ten plastic mesh pouches. The pouches contain packets that are scented with anise and are approximately 2 x 3 inches. The pouches are removable and can be replaced with other scent packs depending upon what type of training and nose work you want to focus on with your dog.
The description and measurements are accurate. This is a quality product. The bright yellow color makes them easy to see. Anise is a common choice for scent training because it is a strong scent. It provides a clear starting point to help dogs identify and hunt specific scents. It’s a good choice for beginners. The enclosed booklet has information to help you get started and instructs you on how to engage your dog allowing you to swap out anise for other training scents once you’ve both mastered the basics with this kit.
Whether you use this kit for scent training or as a basic training tool, it’s important to remember this is about enjoyment for you and your dog. It’s about bonding with your pet. Remember to keep it fun for your dog to help him stay engaged. In doing so, it’ll support brain health and cognitive ability by offering ongoing mental stimulation. The pouch training should be supervised and kept to a minimum amount of time roughly 5-10 minutes. Once you’re achieved your goal you can increase the amount of time. By observing your dog and reading its body language you’ll know when it’s time to switch activities. These are reasonably priced. They are a good value. I highly recommend.

Beginner-Friendly and Easy to LearnI can't believe how quickly my puppy picked up on this scent-training tool. We had already been working on "find it" with treats or kibble. I was nervous about transitioning to the scent packs. Would he understand that I wanted him to find something that wasn't food? The instructional "book" is really just a pamphlet, but it did actually have all the info I needed to help transition my dog from finding the reward directly, to finding these pouches and then receiving a reward. He very quickly picked up on "this is what you need to find," as well as "don't eat it or play with it, just find it/give it to me and you'll get a reward." This is my first time doing this type of nose work training, and my first time with this type of training tool. It's very beginner-friendly.
I did one round of asking him to touch several times, then rewarding. Then one round of hiding them where he could see, then rewarding. That's all it took. After that, I was able to hide them in concealed locations when he was behind closed doors, and he understood what he was supposed to find when given the cue "find it". Granted – we had been working on "find it" already, and my dog is a genius. But I do actually think this is a great tool with simple instructions included.
There are 10 small fabric pouches. Inside those pouches are the scent packs that contain corn cob and anise. The anise smell is quite strong. I don't mind it, but I know some people aren't crazy about licorice. But to me, it's a pretty distinct smell that's easy for my dog to identify and separate from other environmental smells. Each pouch has a yellow fabric loop, and the set comes with a carabiner (I guess to attach them all together?). I'm storing them in a plastic drawstring pouch to try to prevent the scent dissipating. When the anise smell eventually fades, I'll either put a couple of drops of dog-safe essential oil on the interior corn cob pack, or I'll discard the scent pack and stuff the fabric pouch with a little scrap of fabric or paper that has a target scent on it. But I do have to remember – just because I can't smell it any more doesn't mean my dog can't smell it. I imagine I'll be able to use these for quite a while before needing to refresh (at least a year or more). But to that point; if I want to orient him to another scent, I just have to remove the interior packs and replace them with something that has the scent on it that I want to target (and probably wash the pouches first).
Could you make your own? Absolutely. Did I want to? Not this time. The $18.99 price tag is well worth the money I would have spent on fabric and the hours I would have spent trying to learn to sew. We still have a lot to learn, but this kit does make it easier. It's a really fun activity to do with my very best bud.

My dog caught on fast!We have a visually-impaired, young, very active dog who (per his DNA test) is a combination of working breeds. If you know anything about working breeds, you know they have to stay active and engaged, to keep them happy and out of trouble. Race & Herd's Scent Training Kit was made for our dog! He caught on very quickly. He took to the scent right away and wanted to play with one of the pouches like it was a toy. I introduced him to the "find it!" command and, once he got the drift (it only took a couple tries), I hid a few of the pouches around the livingroom. I helped him with the first round by pointing to the area where I'd hidden one of the pouches and said "find it!" He would go to the area, sniff a bit, and find the pouch after a few minutes of searching for it. I think it will only take a few indoor rounds before we move the game into the yard. Our dog really seems to enjoy the task of searching out the scent. After we played a couple of games he was totally animated and happy, galavanting around with his favorite toy. I like the interactive nature of the game, which helps us strengthen our bond.
I think we are going to get a lot of use and enjoyment out of this game. If you are looking for an enrichment activity for an active dog, this is a good one!
